Where am I?

Wednesday, February 22nd, 2006

Not online. That’s for sure. Speakeasy is batting a 1000. First they “lost” my move order which caused me to wait an extra 7 days to have my dsl service installed. Now that it is installed instead of being 6.0 down it’s only 1.5. Yesterday the line just dropped. Dead. So I’m stuck with no DSL at home. I’m working with speakeasy to get the issue resolved but until then.

Colbert!
Speakeasy! You’re on notice!

The manual search

Wednesday, February 15th, 2006

I have had a blog entry waiting to be posted for a while about how bad the manual search has sucked since the versioning was implemented. I love the versioning but not being able to search it has been maddening. That post will never see light. The manual search has been fixed! We now have the best of both worlds. A versioned manual and search that works.

For those of you that might not know this also works on php.net and freshmeat.net.

Does MySQL really care?

Wednesday, February 15th, 2006

Other people have already drilled into the Oracle purchase of Sleepycat enough so I only have one question. Does any MySQL user really care that Oracle bought Sleepycat? Was anyone using BDB in production? Why?

Cock-A-Leekie Soup

Am I going to try it? Hell no. The full menu entry is “Cock-A-Leekie Soup - Chicken and Leek Soup” Somtimes we get strange items on the lunch menu here at Yahoo! but that one has to be the worst.
